I think it is time to give you all a more complete view of the yacht club surroundings and the other competitors here at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron.
The Boat Yard

The Australian team have been more than helpful, letting us share space in their U haul container.........saves a lot of carting back and forth
As to be expected there are containers and boats everywhere..

There are even wheelchair salesmen!
Back at the club house , the Media centre has a superior view
There is still action at the crane dock ..
and places to sit and watch the pre race action..
there are old friends found in odd places
.. and other competitors on our dock
The Aussie teams, the Italians, and the Netherlands
Daniel Fitzgibbon and Crew Liesl Tesch
and
Amethyst Banbrook, both our Aussie representatives in Skuds
Rolf Schrama from the Netherlands,
and the Italian team Marco Gualandris
and Marta Zanetti
the larger view ...

Ray and Graeme spent some time bonding over at the boat shed
Then our star arrived ....
with brother Phil,
last minute jobs ...
everybody busy ..
a team effort to get Pete aboard..
and then up to the Historical Fort Redoubt to watch the days racing
under thick clouds, passing squalls and strongly defined horizons,
the 2.4 metres yachts were just a speck in the distance
while the Skuds were way out of sight
but .. we caught them on the homeward run...
Ray and Graeme leading the way
Pete and Rachael sailed home after a long day out in challenging weather
Now that the official first race is upon us ..
It is a Media boat for me today.. so hopefully some good action shots for you all tomorrow.
Hi Marina, so pleased to have found your great blog today. My partner, John Connell is an old friend of Peter's and has been trying to make contact for the past few months with no success. Earlier this year he read an article about the effort to get Pete to Halifax. We have wanted to make a donation towards the cause, but didn't know how. Can you please pass John's very best wishes along to Peter. Also, we would love to know if there are any opportunities to donate at this stage.
ReplyDeleteWarm regards, Karyn and John.
